John Mearsheimer examines the nuances and subtleties of recent shifts in International relations by encapsulating ‘offensive realist theory’ in his most celebrated work The Tragedy of Great Power Politics (2014). He built his theory by giving five assumptions about the international system. When these assumptions are combined, the system is forcing states to seek out ways to increase their dominance over other actors in the system.
Irfan Ul Haq (PhD) recently completed his PhD in the Department of Political Science,University of Kashmir, Srinagar India. Irfan’s PhD dissertation explored the role of US factor in India-China relations. Author has also qualified NET-JRF examination conducted by University Grants Commission, New Delhi every year. His research interests focus on Indo-Pacific, India and China Relations, US-China Dynamic, Middle East and Belt and Road Initiative in International Relations. His research articles have been published by various peer reviewed and refereed Journals including Asian Affairs (Routledge).
